Tips on Keeping a Clean & Organized Home
1. Create a To-do List
Know what’s next and don’t waste time thinking about what to do or by getting distracted with something else. Sitting down the night before and looking at your next day. Know what you need to do next and prioritize those things. This will also help you to stay focused and get your non-negotiables for the day complete.
2. Declutter Regularly
Cleanliness and organization in the home makes the space more conducive and productive, especially if you work from home. For many women, clutter and disorganization creates chaos and anxiety in both the internal and external environments. Decluttering can be done in one small task at a time rather than making it into a huge ordeal. Pick one small area, one drawer, one closet, or a cabinet at a time.
3. Organize a Little Bit Often
Being organized comes down to habits – small consistent habits. It may seem overwhelming at first, but once you implement it as a daily habit in your home, it gets much easier and more effortless.
4. Don’t Put it Down, Put it Away
Being in the habit of putting things away instead of just setting it down will change the flow and functionality of your home completely. A home becomes cluttered and messy by not putting things away as soon as you're done with it. Having a designated spot for everything is a great way to avoid clutter to begin with. It also makes it easier to put things away when you’re done using it and helps your home run more efficiently. When you or anyone else needs something, you know exactly where to find it and can give easy instruction to others. Working from home, cooking, cleaning, and even grocery shopping can all be done much quicker and effectively when your environment is organized and tidy.
5. Keep the Fridge Organized
Evaluate the leftovers and other groceries in the fridge often. Be sure to eat or freeze leftovers for other meals. Not everyone needs to eat the same leftovers if there are multiple choices.
6. Clean up as you Cook & Put Dirty Dishes in the Dishwasher as you go.
Nobody wants to clean up a huge mess after they gave finished eating and have lower energy. Cleaning as you cook creates much less work in the end. It is a good habit to get into especially on those days you might need to run out the door after eating. Not only does nobody like having to clean up a huge mess after dinner but nobody likes coming home to a filthy home or kitchen either. Small habits make a big impact.
7. Do Laundry Frequently
Don’t wait for the laundry to pile up and all the towels in the house to be dirty before deciding to do the laundry. That is an overwhelming task that nobody appreciates. As soon as there is a load to wash – wash it! Less laundry to wash, less laundry to dry and less laundry to fold and put away is much less work than leaving it all until you have 5 loads to wash. Keeping on top of it and doing a load as soon as it’s there takes the “work” out of doing laundry
